Privacy Policy
Effective October 25, 2026
GTA Spotlight is a sole proprietorship owned by Imran Jimoh, based in Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it and what we do with it. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Who is responsible
Imran Jimoh is our Privacy Officer and is accountable for how we handle personal information. Contact: info@gtaspotlight.ca.
What we collect
From advertisers and people who contact us:
- Name
- Business name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Business category
- The card and ad size you are interested in
- Ad materials you send us, such as logos, offers and contact details for your ad
- Payment confirmation. Card payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
From Scavenger Hunt entrants:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Any other details the Official Rules require to enter, confirm eligibility and contact winners
When you visit our website or scan a QR code:
- Basic analytics, such as pages visited, approximate time of visit and the number of times a QR code is scanned. We use this to count visits and scans and to send advertisers a scan total for their ad. We do not use it to identify you personally.
Why we collect it
- To answer your enquiries and send quotes
- To book, design, print and mail your ad
- To send invoices and keep business records
- To run the Scavenger Hunt, confirm winners and deliver prizes
- To send scan reports to advertisers. These reports show totals only, never the identity of the people who scanned.
- To send you emails about upcoming cards, only if you have agreed to receive them
We send email through Kit (kit.com). We only send marketing emails to people who have agreed to receive them, or where Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) otherwise allows it. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe. Entering the Scavenger Hunt does not sign you up for marketing emails unless you choose to.
Who sees your information
Only GTA Spotlight sees your information. We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone else.
We use a small number of service providers to run the business, such as our website host, our email provider (Kit), our payment processor and our analytics tools. They store or process information on our behalf and may not use it for anything else. Some of these providers are located outside Canada, including in the United States, so your information may be stored there and be subject to the laws of that country.
The names of businesses that advertise on a card appear on the printed card and may appear on our website and social media. That is the purpose of the card.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information for up to 5 years after your last activity with us, then delete or anonymize it. We may keep financial records longer where tax law requires it.
How we protect it
We limit access to your information to GTA Spotlight and use service providers with reasonable security safeguards. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our services and the Scavenger Hunt are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the minimum age set in the Scavenger Hunt Official Rules.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it or ask us to delete it, subject to legal record-keeping requirements. You can withdraw your consent to marketing emails at any time. Email info@gtaspotlight.ca and we will respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
